- (1550-before1624)Palestinian linguist, poet and kabbalist. Born in Constantinople, he emigrated to Jerusalem and later moved to Safed. Forty years later he went to Turkey and Italy, returning to Jerusalem in 1618. He wrote studies of the masoretic text of the Bible, Hebrew grammar, prosody and lexicography. His Shete Yadot contains original writings and midrashic literature.
